Forum FAQ - Archive
If you are a new member, or if you have just taken a break, you may wish
to catch up with recent messages.
Web archive
There is not, nor will there ever be, a public web archive of Forum
messages. However, a simple (non-searchable) private web archive is
maintained by the Majordomo list management software. This is available by
logging into the
administration pages.
You will need your Majordomo password, which was sent to you when you first
subscribed: there are instructions on the Sign In page for getting a reminder
if you have lost it.
Email archive
The primary archive mechanism is email-based. You use it by sending one or
more instructions in the body of a message to
majordomo@greenbelt-forum.org.uk.
Instructions include:
- archive-index forum 200012
- (list messages during December 2000)
- archive-index forum 200012 - 200102
- (list messages from December 2000 to February 2001)
- archive-get-digest forum 200012/123
- (fetch a single message listed in the index)
- archive-get-digest forum 200012/123 - 200102/40
- (fetch a range of messages listed in the index)
- archive-get-digest forum 200012
- (fetch all the messages from December 2000)
- archive-get-digest forum 20051225 - 20060101
- (fetch all the messages from Christmas to New Year inclusive)
Note that all fetches of messages must be done in "digest" mode, to reduce the
load on the list server.
